The Commodity Futures Trading Supervisory Agency (Bappebti) revealed that the transaction value of crypto assets from January to November 2022 reached IDR 296.66 trillion, down compared to 2021 which amounted to IDR 859.4 trillion.
“There is a decline of more than 50 percent,” said Acting Head of CoFTRA at the Ministry of Trade Didid Noordiatmoko at a press conference in Jakarta, Wednesday. In addition, he said, it was recorded that the total registered customers of crypto assets had increased, from 11.2 million in 2021 to 16.55 million in 2022.
It also predicts that crypto asset activity will experience winter, based on Statista Global Consumer Survey data. The survey with respondents who have invested in crypto in the United States in 2022 is 18 percent, while residents who plan to invest are 15 percent. Meanwhile in 2020, the popularity of crypto asset owners was 8 percent, rising to 11 percent.
However, Didid projects that in 2023, crypto assets will rise, albeit slowly. Regarding the potential of crypto, Didid said that he was conducting a review of 151 new crypto asset coins, and so far 383 crypto coins have been officially registered.
“We are currently conducting an analytical hierarchy process (AHP) on 151 types of coins, in which there are also 10 types of local coins,” he said. He also hopes and encourages local crypto coins to continue to grow.
