The United States Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of New York (SDNY) has established an FTX Task Force to track and recover stolen customer funds, and handle investigations and prosecutions related to the FTX exchange crash.

The announcement was made through a statement from US Attorney Damian Williams who is the federal attorney in the FTX case involving its founder, Sam Bankman-Fried.

The Manhattan attorney’s office charges against SBF include wire and securities fraud, conspiracy to commit wire and securities fraud, money laundering and violation of campaign finance laws.

The Southern District of New York is working around the clock to respond to the FTX explosion, Williams said.

Meanwhile, the appropriation of cyber assets and capabilities will be used to track and recover billions of dollars in lost customer funds, he added.

Similar efforts have been made by new management of FTX, which hired financial advisory firm AlixPartners in December to conduct asset tracking for lost FTX digital assets.
