The Twitter account of the Directorate General of Taxation of Indonesia again pokes at the people with fantastic income. This time the Directorate General of Taxes with a verified account @DitjenPajakRI drove Ghozali, the man who suddenly came into the spotlight after his selfie sold a total of billions of rupiah. The Account of the Directorate General of Taxes poked Ghozali on the Twitter account @Ghozali_Ghozalu through the tweet quote feature on Friday (14/1/2022).

Director of Extension, Service, and Public Relations, directorate general of taxation of the Ministry of Finance (DJP Kemenkeu), Neilmaldrin Noor, said the government still discussed NFT or crypto transactions until now. “The government has not imposed a specific tax on these digital transactions,” according to various sources on Friday (14/1).

However, he cautioned that tax rules can still be used to withdraw income tax to Ghozali. Exemplified by the Income Tax Act (UU PPh) mandate, any additional economic capabilities are taxed. “That includes the transaction we’re discussing. So, it is still taxed with a self-assessment system,” he explained. Neilmaldrin added that NFT and other digital assets must be reported on the annual notification letter (SPT) using the market value of December 31 of the tax year.
