Customers at one of the largest American banks are reportedly witnessing unexpected withdrawals impacting their accounts.
Reports of unauthorized withdrawals at Wells Fargo, labeled as “debit card pending correction,” began circulating on social media about a week ago. According to the CBS-affiliated news station WNCT, these unexplained charges have ranged from a few dollars to several hundred dollars, leading some accounts into negative territory.
A spokesperson from Wells Fargo attributed the issue to a technical glitch and assured that the bank would promptly reverse the charges and any associated fees.
“Due to a resolved systems issue, certain customers might experience a delay in transaction postings. The majority of customers remain unaffected by this matter. Any overdraft fees resulting from this incident will be automatically refunded.”
This marks the third instance this year where customers of the banking giant have encountered problems related to their account balances.
In August, Wells Fargo confronted a technical issue that caused some customers’ direct deposits to not reflect in their accounts. Similarly, a separate group of customers experienced comparable problems back in March.
